Hi Mike and Pip!

Dropping by to wish you well and have a nose at the blog - enjoyed the story about the pub church at Bridlington: have you managed to set up a placement with them?

It's exciting to see Fresh Expressions growing and in good hands. I was at St Mike's the last year Graham was there.

But most importantly, good to hear Snowy the hamster's doing well! Has she faced real snow yet?

EMma's big news is that she's got her Doctorate. It's wonderful to watch the exhileration (and some slight disorientation) at never having to do the thing again! Acres of white space opening up in front of her - all the things she can do now with her spare time...

We're in Oundle between December 20th and 24th. Will it overlap with your plans?

I'm far more of a Fundamentalist than this suggests! I was also thrown by the use of modern when they probably meant post-modern.

You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don't think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

:-) Are you practicing your sermons on the internet? Nice one - you might need to fill it out a bit for a service, maybe an example from the bible - how Jesus had a passion for healing so he did lots of that, he wasn't actually so fussed about carpentry, so didn't do too much of that in the end (much to Joseph's disappointment) - maybe a cautionary note about not following all your dreams - I know some of yours could have got you in serious bother!! That should give you the 20 minutes you need for a decent sermon - if your struggling, tell the full story of your dream about you, me and Nik, you know the one with the oil and the extra large corner bath? Is that sermon material? I've lost touch a bit.
